HOW TO FIND GOOD DEALS ONLINE- CHRISTMAS SHOPPING
by: Rachel McHollister

Each year Christmas shopping gets just a little bit easier. This year many people won’t even have to leave their house to buy everything they need. Which makes those people who have a tradition of going to the overcrowded mall a little less stressful.

You may want to take your tradition shopping mall excursions to a whole other level with the new era of businesses dedicated to finding you the best deal without you doing all the background work to find it. I’m not talking about a Sears online catalogue or craigslist but flash sales and price matching sites and even giveaways.

Where to find these amazing deals is something is what every fashionista must know.

 Giveaways

When it comes to giveaways there is a tremendous amount of giveaways in magazines, radio and pretty much every other form of media. Winning those coveted prizes is another story, I myself have entered many and have never heard back, but if you are lucky person than I say go for it! However, if your luck isn’t the best when it comes to big time giveaways, concentrate on smaller ones such at blogger and twitter or deal site giveaways. Usually bloggers are given a certain amount of free product before christmas to promote and thus do giveaways, same goes for tweeters. I can’t tell you how many things I have one just merely entering through a blog or retweeting on twitter. It’s about keeping an eye out.

 Flash Sales

For Canadians flash sales have been waived in front of our faces for years as many of the flash sale sites did not ship to Canada. For those of you who are unaware of flash sales it is the best way to purchase last seasons items. Usually designers are needing to off load their old stock and therefore sell it for less than cheap prices to get it out to the public instead of sitting in their studio. Some flash sales last 15-20 minutes while others last up to an hour, depending on the amount of items they have. They will usually send out an e-mail informing you of the flash sale. Some places you will want to check out for U.S. residents is Gilt Group, Ideeli and Fab, Rue La La. And. for us Canadians we have Beyond the Rack, Peacock Parade, Dealuxe and Stylehopper.

Pop-Up Shops

You never really know when a pop-up shop is going to show up and exactly where it is going to be. However if you are in tune with social media there is usually a buzz going around about where and when one is happening. Usually at pop-ups you will find the best pieces sometimes at a high price point but it will be a unique piece.

 Online Sales

If you like to shop at your tried and tested stores, I suggest checking out their online sale section before stepping foot into the store. Often you will find a better selection of sale items than actually on the racks in the store.
