I found these two resting on the steps outside of the Russian House (also known as Science World). Their relaxed postures and pleasant expressions made them recognizably West coast, so I popped over to see if I was right.

I was – partly. Robin McMillan and Preston currently reside right in the city, but have lived in Montreal in the past…which explains the Euro-sense to their style. I found myself attracted to their fashion because of the attention they pay to each piece they wear. Robin’s delicate floral top is stunning, as is her oversized costume ring.Preston’s western tie was unexpected – little surprises like this necklace are often my favourite parts of an outfit, like a pop of colour in a jacket liner or mismatched earrings.

The pair says that while their style certainly was influenced by their time in fashion-risky Montreal, they argue that there is no longer a look that can ever define a city. Because of things like fashion blog addictions (guilty!) and access to international designs, people can be more individual than ever.

Wherever their style came from, I like it.
